Just under 2 hours from London, Limewood is set in the beautiful new forest.

If organic food, outdoor/indoor spas and natural skincare is your thing look no further for the perfect mini break!

There is something truly special about Limewood … from the moment you hit the in road surrounded by the new forest charms, trees and nature you feel a sense of calm. As you turn into the drive in view of the beautiful main house the calm turns into a warm familiar feeling, like the one you get when you arrive home from holiday.

There is something about the drive in with the organic green house on the right and the wooden spa that blends into the landscape that evokes a feeling of natural tranquility.

Limewood really is the most relaxed but luxurious home from home.

The Spa:

The herb house spa has a wonderful light bite restaurant/juice bar serving ingredients straight from the garden and the staff could not be more attentive. You can sit and read the newspaper and drink coffee while overlooking the pool and outside spa.

Having been to a number of spas in the UK and left feeling utterly disappointed with the lack of modernity and atmosphere, craked paint on the walls and worst of all average treatments … Limewood felt like a breath of fresh air.

Its luxurious indoor outdoor approach mixing clean lines with the natural environment creates and exquisite sense of zen.

Across 3 levels the Spa boasts an indoor and outdoor pool, sun deck with a herb garden a sauna steam room. The indoor Jacuzzi is surrounded by glass flooding it with light and allowing you to look out into the beautiful natural forest.

I could not think of a better way to spend a lazy Sunday! My favourite spot below 😉

The Gym:

A good gym is always a must for any wellness trip we book and Limewood (along with Soho Farmhouse) has probably the best gym in the UK … (in my opinion).

You know it is a good gym when you wake up excited to get there!

The outlook is of the beautiful house and herb garden, and the interiors are just as exquisite as the rest of the property..David Collins has worked wanders on creating a quintessentially British farrow and ball environment with contemporary rustic/industrial relevance.

Eating and Drinking:

The two restaurants at Limewood includes the scullery for breakfast or a relaxed lunch/dinner. The second is Harnett, Holder & Co directed by Angela Harnett and Nick Holder. The menu is Italian influenced from the ingredients used to the sharing approach to eating.

Before sitting for dinner though make sure you stop on route at the gorgeous courtyard bar for a glass of champers or cocktail and take in the relaxed yet perfectly on point interiors.

What I Packed

No need for hairdryer, straighteners or travel size skincare as Bamford body wash, shampoo and conditioner is on tap.

No need to pack any Wellies or anoraks as they have everything on hand as soon as you arrive: Take your pick of colour!

  • Swimwear– a robe will be provided for your day in the spa.
  • Gym Kit or a running outfit if more your thing.
  • Lounge outfit as you may want to just lounge out in your room … after all they are that good!
  • A relaxed glamour outfit for dinner out, heels and jeans … or a dress and trainers will do the job perfectly.

We went mid winter so I opted for leather trousers, a silk cami and star chiffon cover up with heeled mules.

If anything I was over dressed … however I was thankful for this for pictures sake when my partner decided to chose this particular night to get down on one knee!

Apologies for the horrendous mirror shot but in all of our excitement we forget to take an up close outfit shot that night.

Anyway here is a piccy of the get up!

The proposal in the candlelit organic greenhouse surrounded by chilli plants and lemon trees was the perfect end to a perfect pre Christmas break!

The reason I wanted to mention the proposal is because I could not believe the extra mile that limewood went to to make this the most special evening of my life.

I won’t tell all but all I can say the attention to detail from Limewood was outstanding … rose petals up our stairs, candles in the room, they even got a print embossed in gold with the music bars to the song that my fiancé had chosen to come on as I walked into the greenhouse …

Well done Limewood, it may have taken 5 years to build, but what you have created really is …

an experience.
