Istanbul Soho House

Istanbul is the sort of city where you have an intoxicating sense of freedom, overwhelmed by all your senses. The city sites, spice bazaar smells and street food/fine cuisine fusion tastes are just a few of the many reasons to immerse yourself into this buzzy eclectic city. As you know I love to travel alone and you can definitely get lost exploring however I think this is one of those places that you will definitely want to share!

I almost feel like one blog post is not enough to do it justice. This post is all about where to stay and I have picked my top 3 hotels to share. This will be followed by more detailed shopping, sites and food post.

Soho House Istanbul

BUDGET – £££

If there is anywhere you want to wake up in Istanbul it is Soho House.

The hotel is situated in the later European part in Istanbul’s Beyoglu district. This is by far my favourite place to be located, think cobbled alleys, boutique shops, authentic restaurants and cocktail bars over spilling onto the street.

In my opinion it was of the best houses in the Soho collection. The ornate historic architecture mixed with the casual cool interior is a creatives’ haven! The heated, lit up garden means that you can enjoy a glass of wine outdoors all year around and the bedrooms/bathrooms are a delight! In fact they are so good it is tempting to stay inside all day.

Soho House has two restaurants…one in the new hotel side of the building and one in the historic house. The historic house restaurant opens up onto a beautiful veranda, open in the summer months only and not to be missed!

Dotted around the house there are lots of area’s where you can sit with your laptop and do a spot of site seeing research without feeling out of place.

If you like wandering around antique shops and boutique design stores and enjoy a water view…this hotel is for you. Let me tell you it is fabulously chic and you will not be disappointed.

Retro Vintage shop on the same road as The Georges

It is located in heart of the European district Galata and has appeared on the renowned Conde Nast Gold list twice in the last few years. You enter this hotel straight into a beautiful cosy bar, the staff are so friendly and there is even a hotel cat called Lollipop who will welcome you on arrival.

If you want the best of the Bosphurus views ask for a sea view and you will have beautiful French style doors that open up onto a veranda over looking the water. You couldn’t wake up to a better view.

Bedroom Views

The bathroom is a real delight with traditional Turkish tiles and a walk in shower. The rooms are light and breezy an enjoyable contrast to the warm cosy ambience of the hotel itself.

The best part of the hotel for me is the stunning rooftop bar where after a long day of shopping and site seeing you can wind down with a cocktail, select your mezzet of choice and sit back to enjoy the Bosphurus views.

STAY – The Witt Apartments

A Mr and Mrs Smith Favourite, The Witt Istanbul is a glamorous stay in the heart of Cihangir, one of Istanbul’s trendiest neighbourhoods with skylines that go on forever.

It is the ideal spot if you want to experience Istanbul as a local. Hanging out in the coolest coffee bars, wandering around record and health shops and and stopping for delicious cuisine.

Local Health Shop – walking distance from Witt.

You won’t be disappointed with your bang for your buck when it comes to Witt. The rooms are so big with kitchen, bar, living area… all standard!

The first time I stayed here I called up to reception to check I had the right room as it was so extra. Pleasently surprised I had the right room!

This hotel really has the edge when it comes to balancing comfort and glamour.

Standard Bedroom – Witt

The kitchen is fully supplied with glasses, plates, cooker and a fabulous coffee machine. Bathrooms all have molten brown products xoxo

No hotel is complete in Istanbul without a lavish rooftop and Witt did not let me down. On arrival a glass of wine was waiting for me on the terrace overlooking the sea. The perfect start to a city break.
